3 shot, 1 dead following argument in North City

ST. LOUIS (KMOV.com) – Police are investigating a quadruple shooting late Saturday in North St. Louis that has left one man dead and three others with serious wounds.

City Dispatch told News 4 that officers responded to a call in the 5000 block of Durant just before midnight.  Police reports say that the four victims were discovered lying in the street. According to police, four people were hit by bullets.

One victim, Carnez Winslett, a 36-year-old black male, suffered a gunshot wound to the chest. Winslett was transported to an area hospital where he was pronounced dead.

A second victim, a 21-year-old male, suffered a gunshot wound to the abdomen. He was taken to an area hospital where he is currently listed in serious condition.

The other two victims, 38 and 49-year-old men, each suffered a single gunshot wound, according to reports. They are currently listed in stable condition.

Reports say the incident began when two groups were arguing on the street. A man in one of the groups is believed to have pulled out a gun and opened fire. Witnesses tell police the suspect left the scene in a silver 4-door sedan.

Police do not currently have anyone in custody. Suspect descriptions were not made available.
