UNIVERSITY CITY, Mo. (KMOV) – Three people have been charged after a teen died from injuries sustained in a shooting in University City.

Orlando McLamb-Rice, 19, Shawn Lackland, 21, and Otha Liggins, 23, were all charged with second-degree murder.

Authorities said Liggins on Tuesday was trying to sale marijuana to McLamb-Rice and the victim, identified as 16-year-old Eric Gray, near the back of an alley in the 1000 block of North Hanley.

According to police, Liggins shot Gray after he and McLamb-Rice tried to rob him.

Gray was transported to the hospital, where he later died of his injuries.

Two of the suspects were taken into custody after they were caught within blocks of the shooting.

Lackland was later arrested after police say he provided the handgun for the attempted robbery.

Liggins is in custody on $200,000 cash-only bond. Bond for McLamb-Rice and Lackland were set at $100,000, cash only.
