(KMOV) -- Authorities in Jersey and Greene counties arrested 26 people ranging in age from 19 to 71 during a drug sweep early Friday morning. Ten people were arrested in the Jersey County sweep, and 16 were arrested in the Green County sweep.
Law enforcement agencies from both counties joined forces to make the bust.
"Regardless of geography, we're all on the same team, and it's always impressive to see this type of cooperation to clean up our communities," said Greene County State's Attorney Matt Goetten. "This isn't the first time and it certainly won't be the last time Jersey and Greene team up to fight drugs."
Authorities from the South Central Illinois Drug Task Force, Greene County Drug Task Force, Greene and Jersey County Sheriff's Departments, and Carrollton and Jerseyville Police Departments made arrests on 35 warrants charging delivery of controlled substances ranging from heroin and ecstasy to prescription drugs. The charges stem from months of undercover operations by drug task forces from the neighboring counties.
Besides the warrants on new drug charges, Jersey County law enforcement picked up several individuals who were serving probation to have them drug-tested to ensure compliance with their probation orders. Those who tested positive for drugs will be arrested immediately and subject to probation revocation and re-sentencing in Jersey County Circuit Court.
