(KMOV) – The Madison County coroner says an autopsy on a Southern Illinois University student whose body was found in her housing unit on the Edwardsville campus failed to show why she died.

According to school officials, university police and housing staff found Tiffany Wilder, 24, in her bedroom around 9 p.m. after the mother of her boyfriend asked them to check on her well-being.

Campus police say the death doesn’t appear suspicious, and that there was no sign anyone forced their way into the apartment. Her 5-year-old son was found unharmed in the house and said his mother would not wake up.

Wilder was a junior majoring in psychology major.

The university’s housing staff was caring for the boy on Friday until state child-welfare workers or a relative could take custody.

Funeral arrangements were still being made.
