ST. LOUIS (KMOV.com) – Police have charged the man they say is responsible for stealing a bible from St. John Lutheran Church.

Jacob Lenau, 20, is charged with nine separate criminal counts stemming from his confession during a police interview.

Lenau reportedly said he broke into St. John three times. The first incident was September 12, when he stole three computers and a printer. The second break in was December 11, and Lenau said he stole a safe with gift cards, checks, cash and a bank card in it. In the third and most recent incident, Lenau reports he stole an Augsburg leather-bound German Bible.

Lenau is charged with three counts each of burglary, stealing and property damage.
