2 women shocked following nearby lightening strike in south St. Louis

(KMOV) -- Two women were treated after being reportedly shocked from a lightning strike in a south St. Louis neighborhood.

Authorities say the call came out shortly before 4:30 p.m. for a house struck by lightening on the 2700 block of Compton.

As fire crews arrived and did not find a house fire, they located two women standing outside the Shaw Visual and Performing Arts School on the 5200 block of Compton claiming to have been shocked as lightening struck a nearby tree.

One of the women was knocked to the ground. Both women reported feeling the current but neither was injured. 

The women were examined by paramedics at the scene by declined any further medical treatment.
