CENTRAL WEST END (KMOV) – Police are searching for two suspects who robbed four people in the Central West End early Sunday morning.

Police said four medical students - two men and two women - were walking north on Euclid near West Pine around 12:40 a.m. when a suspect holding a pistol approached and told them to put their money and valuables on the ground.

Authorities said the suspect took two purses, two wallets, an iPhone and jewelry.

Police said as the suspect walked away he spotted two other people and ordered them to give up their belongings.

Authorities said both victims ran away and the suspect fired one shot before getting into a maroon Mercury Mountaineer driven by a second suspect.

Police said the vehicle, which fled the scene, was last seen going east in the alley between West Pine and Laclede.

Police said the first suspect was described as a black male in his 20s. He weighs between 200 and 250 pounds and was wearing a light-colored shirt and blue jeans shorts.

Authorities did not provide a description on the second suspect.

The incident came just hours after a former St. Louis University volleyball player was shot and killed during a robbery attempt near the intersection of N. Taylor and Maryland Avenue.

Police said the suspect’s description was similar in both cases.

A $30,000 reward is now being offered for information leading an arrest in her murder.
