BALLWIN, Mo. (KMOV.com) – Detectives were called to investigate after officers noticed an unusual smell coming from a Ballwin home Tuesday night.
According to reports, officers were called to a home in the 200 block of Ballwin Avenue around 9:30 p.m. after other residents reported a strange odor. When officers arrived, they also reported an unusual odor. They described it as a "fuel" smell.
Detectives responded and recovered items from the home. Officials said the items recovered were associated with meth production, but it was not immediately clear if anyone in the home had been making meth.
A man and a woman, who were inside the home when police arrived, were taken into custody. No charges have been filed.
Officials said a 4-month-old child was also in the home. The child is said to be OK and is now in protective custody.
Authorities expect to release more information as the investigation continues.
