ST. CHARLES COUNTY, Mo. (KMOV) – Two elementary schools in the Fort Zumwalt School District were placed on lockdown Thursday.

The district said they locked down both Darden Elementary and Rock Creek Elementary while police searched for two suspects in the area of Stone Creek Valley Rd.

According to police, an officer saw two men peering into the back window of an abandoned trailer in Glenngates Estates around 11 a.m.

As the officer approached, the men took off.

Police said the officer eventually apprehended one of the men, who had local municipal warrants. He remains in custody.

Authorities said they were still searching for the other suspect.

Classes resumed as normal by early Thursday afternoon, according to district officials.

More information on the suspects was not immediately known.
