UNION, Mo. (KMOV) – Three students suffered minor injuries when a car crossed into the opposite lane of a highway and struck a school bus in Union, Missouri.
Police say the wreck happened near the intersection of Highway 50 and Highway 47 around 3:30 p.m. Thursday.
Thomas Wright, 25, was seriously injured when his Dodge Stratus reportedly crossed from the eastbound lanes of Highway 50 into the westbound lanes, striking a school bus carrying 18 students. Police say the car then veered off the highway, colliding with a concrete light post and light pole.
Meanwhile, the school bus was able to safely pull over to the shoulder of the highway.
A female student, 17, a male student, 14, and a female student, 10, reportedly sustained minor injuries in the crash.
Police say the injured man and three students were transported to Mercy Hospital in Washington, Missouri.
According to the Union School District Superintendant’s Office, the bus contained a mix of middle and high school students.
