FRANKLIN COUNTY, Mo. (KMOV.com) -- One person is dead and three are injured after three vehicles collided on eastbound Interstate 44 Saturday morning.

Police say the accident happened around 5 a.m. just east of the Union, Missouri exit on I-44 at mile marker 248 in Franklin County.

According to reports, Diaael Saker, 25, of Kenner, Louisiana, lost control of his tractor trailer and ran off the left side of the road. Saker over-corrected and the trailer rolled over.

Saker was pronounced dead at the scene and his passenger Felix Smith, 52, of Pasadena, California, suffered minor injuries.

Then, two vehicles that were following the tractor trailer slid into it. The first vehicle was an SUV driven by Billy Wells, 42, of Rolla, Missouri. Wells has minor injuries.

The second vehicle was driven by Roxanne Rath, 25, of Sullivan, Missouri. Rath has moderate injuries.

Police say all drivers were wearing seat belts but are unsure if Smith was.

All three of the injured were taken to Mercy Hospital in Washington, Missouri.
