Teen dead, 2 injured after attempting to rob off-duty officer in Forest Park

(KMOV) – One suspect was killed and two others were injured after being shot by a 36-year-old off-duty officer during a robbery attempt in Forest Park late Monday night.

According to police, a St. Charles County deputy and a 23-year-old woman were jogging near the Grand Basin at the foot of Art Hill around 11:15 p.m. when a man slowly walked past them.

Police said the officer became suspicious and placed a gun at his side as a precaution. When the pair turned a corner, three black males dressed in dark clothing and hoodies pulled a gun and announced a robbery.

The officer then fired shots at the suspect, striking all three of them. An 18-year-old suspect, Antonio Nash, was hit in the stomach and was pronounced dead the scene.

One of the other suspects was struck in the buttocks and the other was hit in the neck. Those suspects, both 20, were taken to the hospital in stable condition.

No other injuries were reported.

According to police, the officer has 16 years of experience on the force.

Authoriites told News 4 it did not appear charges would be filed. Homicide detectives were investigating.
