(KMOV) – Towers of the new Mississippi River Bridge are beginning to dominate the skyline in north St. Louis.
The Mississippi River Bridge is one of 35 construction projects aimed to re-route Interstate 70 traffic off the Poplar Street Bridge. The bridge is being built to withstand earthquakes and runaway barges.
When the construction is complete, the towers and cables will be painted off-white.
The bridge is expected to be complete by 2014.
