(KMOV.com) St. Charles police are searching for two armed robbers who held up a Petro-Mart in St. Charles.

The robbery took place on North Third Street just south of 370 around 3:10 Saturday morning.

Initial reports indicate that two armed black males walked into the store, held their guns up to the head of the overnight clerk and robbed the store.

The suspects got away with an unknown amount of money and cigarettes from the store. Upon exiting, the suspects held up two customers in the parking lot.

The wife of the clerk tells News 4’s Ray Preston that her husband was able to lock himself in the store office when the robbers’ backs were turned and call police.

Reports indicate that the clerk was punched in the face. He was treated at the scene and released with minor injuries.

The suspects are believed to be in their late teens to early twenties. One suspect was wearing gray jeans, an orange hooded sweatshirt and a ball cap. The other suspect was wearing white cargo shorts, a blue and white striped shirt and a red ball cap.

They were last seen running away on foot, heading south from the Petro-Mart. A K-9 unit, as well as a police helicopter, was brought in to assist in the search.

Anyone with any information is asked to contact St. Charles Crime Stoppers at 636-949-3333.
