FERGUSON (KMOV.com) – Police in St. Louis County are searching for the person responsible for shooting a woman in the head Tuesday night.
Police said the shooting happened around midnight near the intersection of Highmont and West Florissant in Ferguson. According to authorities, the shooter used a low caliber bullet which became lodged in her head.
According to police, the woman was talking when she was transported to an area hospital. The victim, who is expected to recover, posted a selfie to social media, from the ambulance, after the bullet struck her.
“It kind of hurts me because she’s all for it. She was out there with signs, out there protesting,” said Torrijuan Gibson, who had gotten to know the woman from recent protests.
The shooting took place about a block away from where a Michael Brown protest was being held.
Witnesses told police they saw a group of five men running from the scene after the shooting, but the victim said she thought the bullet came from a gray Dodge Charger.
Anyone with information is asked to call police.
