(KMOV.com) – Police are investigating after a daughter is suspected of taking her mother’s car, pills and cash before crashing into a rock cliff in Jefferson County early Monday morning.

According to police, at 2:15 a.m. a Deputy was called to the 11000 block of Mapaville Hemitite Rd. in Festus for a report of a stolen vehicle. Police say that the woman’s 25-year-old daughter took her mother’s 2003 Dodge Stratus, approximately 25 Vicodin pills and $280 cash.

Police say that at 2:50 a.m. a Hillsboro Police Officer located and attempted to stop the stolen vehicle. The vehicle fled from Hillsboro and officers did not pursue it.

At 3:00 a.m. the vehicle was involved in a single vehicle crash at Old Highway 21 near Sandy Creek Rd. Firefighter officials say that the woman had to be cut from the vehicle, but was alert and talking at the scene.

The driver of the vehicle was taken to an area hospital for treatment of injuries sustained in the crash.

The investigation is ongoing.
