(KMOV) -- Washington University has landed a famous St. Louis Cardinal for the 2014 commencement address.
Former Cardinals Manager Tony La Russa will address the graduating class during a ceremony on May 16.
He will also receive an honorary Doctorate of Humanities degree for his work with animal rescue organizations.
La Russa, who retired after winning his second World Series title with the Cardinals in 2011, is the third winningest manager in Major League Baseball history.
He’ll be inducted into the baseball Hall of Fame in July.
