(KMOV.com) -- Retail super store giant Wal-Mart will not build a new store in Ellisville, according to Mayor Adam Paul.
Paul announced Saturday that the developer working to build the Wal-Mart told him the project would not continue.
The store was set to be built on Manchester Road, West of Clarkson.
If the stores had been built, developers would have needed to demolish several apartment complexes and businesses to make way for the project.
The project caused controversy in Ellisville over whether to allow the Wal-Mart to be built.
Paul said the battle over the Wal-Mart was a year and a half battle, but Ellisville residents won out over corporate greed.
