(KMOV) – A video of a fight that broke out at Fairgrounds Park on Sunday is now the subject of an internal investigation within the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department.

The video posted on Facebook shows a teen being hit several times in the middle of a crowd at the park near the intersection of Grand and Natural Bridge.

The teen then makes an escape from the growing crowd to a nearby police squad car where two officers can be seen getting out.

The officers reportedly walked toward the victim but in the video they do not seem to offer assistance or guide the victim to safety. The teen then runs away.

News 4’s Chris Stanford attempted to show the video to St. Louis Police officials. They said they already seen the video but could not comment further because it is an open internal investigation.

The victim and his family have filed a complaint with Internal Affairs after the response from officers in the victim’s time of need.

The department will now look into the actions their officers took during the incident.
