Vaughn: SLU hires Calbert Cheaney

(KMOV) -- St. Louis University has hired former Indiana All-America and longtime NBA player Calbert Cheaney as its new assistant basketball coach.

 Cheaney will join Jim Crews’ staff with the Billikens. 

Cheaney was national college player of the year for Indiana in 1993, and went on to play 14 years in the NBA with Washington, Boston, Denver, Utah and Golden State.

After his retirement as a player, Cheaney served as a special assistant coach for the Golden Warriors from 2009-2011.

He’s spent the past two years at Indiana University as Director of Basketball operations.
