(KMOV) – The US Bank building in downtown St. Louis evacuated Friday afternoon due to an underground fire.

The electrical fire broke out inside an underground vault at 7th and Locust around 12 p.m.

The US Bank building at 7th and Washington voluntarily evacuated as a precaution. N. 7th was closed between Washington and Locust.

Ameren Missouri responded to the scene and cut power to parts of the building to reduce the electrical load. Officials said the power would be back within two to three hours.

Additional details were not immediately available.
