CREVE COEUR, Mo (KMOV.com) -- Creve Coeur police say someone is stealing from Mercy Hospital patients.

In two days, two separate patients had electronics stolen. One lost laptop, the other an iPad.

Police say they have not seen a huge uptick in thefts, but criminials look for any high-population center. Those include movie theaters, parking lots, and even a hospital.

The hospital says it tells patients to leave valuables at home but understands that it’s often tough for people to be without their electronics.

“It’s a little bit difficult in this day of being always connected and always in touch,” said Bob Davidson with Mercy Hospital. “I think we all feel tethered to our phones and laptops, but if you can, leave it home. If you can’t, keep it close to you or in hands of a loved one if you are going to be having surgery or something like that.”
