(KMOV.com) – Another series of storms is expected to roll through the St. Louis area Monday evening, bringing the chance of hail and even tornadoes.

“Today is a day to pay attention to the weather, another outbreak of severe weather is expected including a tornado threat and St. Louis is in the severe risk zone,” said News 4 Chief Meteorologist Steve Templeton.

Templeton said it was tough to pinpoint exactly where and when the storms would unfold.

“I expect isolated but powerful storms to erupt in northeast Oklahoma and southwest Missouri,” he said.

Those storms will move northeast and help cause further storm development in central Missouri.

“Hail, wind and tornadoes all a good bet from some of these storms,” Templeton said. “These storms gel together into a line and move east into St. Louis by the evening or possibly late evening.”

The latest projections show severe storms; hail, wind and tornadoes could hit the viewing area. empleton said they could hit the St. Louis Metro area beginning at 7 p.m., and can continue into the overnight hours.

The KMOV viewing area is under a tornado watch until 1 a.m.

“We’ll be watching for damaging winds and brief tornadoes from any strong storm lines that develop,” Templeton said.

News 4 has crews scattered across the viewing area bringing the latest on weather conditions throughout the evening.

Looking ahead, more storms were expected to slam the St. Louis region on Tuesday.

“It’s going to be mostly cloudy with showers and storms likely,” Templeton said. “Some of these storms could become severe.”
