(KMOV.com) -- St. Louis pizza may be a divisive issue to foodies across the country, but the city’s appetizer offering is a universal hit.

Monday, Thrillist.com named toasted ravioli as one of the 33 Iconic American Foods. The site called the deep-fried finger food “a fancy cousin to the mozzarella stick.”

Writers Andy Kyrza and Kevin Alexander singled out Charlie Gitto’s on The Hill as having the best in town, saying, “Gitto’s totally nails it with a pile of itty bitty cheese/beef/spinach-filled pasta served with a side of special sauce. The best also claims to be the original, but you won’t really care whether that’s true as you order your second round.”
