BELLEVILLE, Ill. -- At least 13,000 people were without power in several Metro East cities for more than an hour Monday afternoon.

An Ameren UE spokesperson said a vehicle hit a large sub-transmission pole, knocking out power to areas of O'Fallon, Swansea, Caseyville, Collinsville, Fairview Heights and Belleville.

Ameren estimated that as of 12:45 p.m., 13,000 people were without power.  All power was restored by 2:00.

The outage came on one of the hottest days of the year in St. Louis.
