(KMOV) – The Illinois Major cause squad released surveillance photos of the man it believes is responsible for a shooting and chase that started in Illinois and ended in Missouri.
The Madison City Police Department received several 911 calls indicating a man was shot at 3rd Street and Washington Ave Monday.
The victim, Kenneth C. Deal, was transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead.
The suspect fled and the pursuit began on southbound Route 3 in Madison, Ill. just before 2 p.m. when police responded to call for shots fired. It then headed west on the Stan Musial Veterans Memorial bridge into Missouri, and then south into the city.
Police say during the chase the suspects threw an unknown number of items off the bridge into the Mississippi River.
The pursuit lasted about 10 minutes until police lost sight of the suspects’ vehicle near the intersection of Newhouse and 25th.
Police describe the suspect as a black man in his 20s, around six feet tall and 160 pounds. On the suspect's left hand is a tattoo of a star with the number 5 in the middle.
