ST. LOUIS, Mo. (KMOV.com) -- Officers responding to a burglary in progress were nearly ran over by suspects fleeing the scene, according to police.

Authorities say officers arrived on the 5000 block of Delmar Saturday night to find  a suspect running from the back of the building into an alley. The officers reportedly followed the suspect, then located a black and red Ford Thunderbird with the suspects inside.

Police say as the police were giving orders to the suspects, the driver of the Thunderbird accelerated and turned the car toward the officers. A passenger in the car then allegedly flourished a handgun at the officers.

Officers fired multiple rounds as the car sped toward them, but were unable to disable the vehicle.

No officers were injured, and it is unknown if any suspects were injured.

Police are investigating the incident, and continue to search for the suspects.
