(KMOV) – Pictures of naked teen girls are circulating around a St. Francois County middle school and administrators say they are coming down hard on the students responsible.

St. Francois County R-1 Superintendent Yancy Poorman sent a home informing parents of what happened and said the teens involved in the sexting incident at North County Middle School in Desloge have been suspended.

Poorman said bullying could very well be one of the reasons why several girls aged 13 to 15 sent nude pictures to boys, all of them students at North County Middle.

“It's not just when they pass you in the hall it's not just when they interact with you on the bus because of social media they have many opportunities to bully or apply pressure,” said Poorman.

The district levied suspensions against some of the students involved and with an investigation into the incident still in progress, some parents say they're happy to see a punishment come down.

Poorman said some of the boys could face child porn possession charges because of the ages of the girls.

He hopes all his students takes something away from this sexting fiasco.

“There's 530 to 550 students in that building...a worthwhile lesson," he said.
