(KMOV) – A federal grand jury charged a St. Louis area priest with possession of child pornography Wednesday.
Father William F. Vatterott, 36, was charged for his alleged possession of child pornography between June 2010 and June 2011.
Vatterott was a Pastor at St. Cecilia in St. Louis and previously served as an Associate Pastor at Holy Infant in Ballwin.
In a statement released by the Archdioceses of St. Louis, Vatterott was placed on administrative leave from St. Cecilia in June 2011 when the Archdiocese was made aware of the allegations.
US Attorney Richard Callahan said in a statement that the St. Louis Archdiocese cooperated with the investigation.
If convicted, Vatterott could face a maximum penalty of 10 years in prison with fines up to $250,000.
Further details into the investigations were not immediately released.
