(KMOV.com) - St. Louis and Columbia, Mo have been ranked among the top 75 college cities and towns in the United States.
The rankings are part of a study that was conducted by the American Institute for Economic Research (AIER). The organization evaluated 227 cities and metro areas with at least 15,000 college students.
Several different factors were considered when the rankings were compiled, including current Census data and numbers from the Small Business Administration to provide a snapshot of each town's academic and cultural environment, quality of life, and employment opportunities.
The cities and towns were broken down into categories based on their size. St. Louis was ranked 13th among large metropolitan areas. Columbia, MO came in 10th among college towns with fewer than 250,000 residents.
