(KMOV.com) -  On Twitter, the St. Louis Police Department promised they would increase patrols with uniformed and undercover officers patrolling Forest Park for the Great Forest Park Balloon Race.

Officers are making sure that what happened at Loufest two weeks ago will not repeat itself. Good times came to a screeching halt when fans made it back to their cars. 29 vehicles were broken into and thieves took everything from wallets to electronics.

Police are reminding everybody to put away valuables before leaving their car. They also encourage people to park in well lit areas.
