(KMOV.com) – With the hugely positive response to English soccer at Busch Stadium, the Cardinals want to make the game an annual event.
While all the soccer fans News 4 talked to Thursday like the idea, not everyone is so sure it can succeed long term.
Stephen Gray, a ticket broker who has sold tickets to events across the country since 1984, has doubts about the market’s longevity.
“It’s an exhibition game,” he said. “Who knows if because it is a meaningless game that it becomes something people don’t care about, or with longevity in the market it is not going to glisten as much.
Gray agrees Thursday’s match was a coup for St. Louis and great for area businesses, but he says that success could breed another problem.
If other cities might see how successful the game was, they will start competing for future matches.
