(KMOV.com) -- St. Clair County board members have cut $9 million of their 2014 budget.
In an effort to save county jobs, the board has decided to increase select fees. The biggest fee change will be for county inspectors to inspect restaurants. Another fee will affect those who are building new homes.
The budget also includes a 1.5 percent salary increase for county employees.
One reason for the budget cut is that the state owes the county several million dollars.
The county administrator told News 4 they hope to lower property taxes in April.
