ST. CHARLES COUNTY (KMOV.com) -- Cottleville Police Chief and Chairman of the St. Charles County Drug Task Force Scott Lewis says what his detectives really need to fight the meth problem is cooperation from St. Louis County.
“There’s only one thing that’s required for meth and that’s pseudoephedrine,” Lewis said. “If you eliminate the ingredient that goes into cooking meth you’re going to eliminate the problem.”
For the five pharmacies closest to the roads going into St. Louis County, pseudoephedrine sales more than doubled in the last year alone.
Police say it happens all the time and will continue until St. Louis County makes a change.
“We need St. Louis county to join us,” Lewis said.
