(KMOV.com) – Boeing may soon be laying off St. Louis based employees as it moves to tighten its budget.
The company told News 4 it will offer some non-union employees who are in management and specialist positions “voluntary layoffs.” Employees who receive such an invitation in the mail may then apply to be laid off and it will be up to Boeing whether or not to honor the employee's request.
Officials said the employee will receive the same layoff benefit package as someone who is let go involuntarily.
“I think it's going to benefit those that are ready to leave right now, and for those that aren't, it's not going to help at all," said Boeing employee Tom Robinson.
Boeing did not tell News 4 how much money the company would save or how many employees would be affected.
