(KMOV) -- Police say a small plane crashed in a cornfield in Jerseyville, Illinois Thursday morning.
Jersey County Police confirm a single engine plane experienced engine issues shortly after taking off at 10:30 a.m.
The pilot reported hearing sputtering then attempted to turn around but ended up landing just west of Highway 67 in a cornfield.
The experimental plane suffered damage to its landing gear.
It is unknown if the pilot was injured in the accident.
