(KMOV) -- Several local police departments plan to be out in full force for this weekend's St. Patrick's celebrations.
Police departments from Missouri and Illinois are a part of a nationwide initiative called, "Drive sober or get pulled over". Several officers will be working overtime throughout the weekend looking for impaired drivers.
Hazelwood police officers plan to aggressively patrol their areas. The department plans to setup DWI sobriety checkpoints at undisclosed locations and conduct saturation patrols. Clayton will have increased DWI patrols as well
In addition to looking for impaired drivers, police in Alton, Ill. also plan to look for drivers who are not wearing a seatbelt.
Officers encourage participants to have fun this weekend, but also practice safety.
