According to police, the driver was asleep when he hit a barrier protecting a telephone pole. The truck then ricocheted into the building, which is home to the Mascoutah Little Indians Football & Cheer club.

The driver told police he was coming back from a long trip and was about five miles away from his house. Police say he will be cited.

No injuries were reported.

Volunteers with the football club say the building sustained heavy damage, though no equipment was ruined.
