(KMOV) – Officials say the Secret Service is stepping in after counterfeit money makes its way around Millstadt.

The agency is working with city police to look into two recent cases of counterfeit money use.

In one case, someone passed off a $100 bill at the Circle K and in another incident, a cashier at Casey’s General Store took a fake $10 bill.

Investigators are working to determine if the two are connected.

“If we make an arrest on a note, other notes that have been passed with no suspect information will be checked and we’ll be able to determine a pattern and we can attribute previous notes passing where we didn’t have a suspect to the suspect that’s been arrested or suspected of a counterfeit case,” said Doug Roberts with the Secret Service.

Agents do not have any suspects in custody. They are asking that anyone with information to call police.
