(KMOV) – News 4’s Mike Colombo captured a veteran bell ringer in his element as he sang Christmas carols to passing shoppers.

Renee Henderson has stood by the Salvation Army red kettles for many years cheering up patrons as they dropped spare change into the buckets. He said he loves the job.

“I’ll be there.  I’m like the mailman, I’ll be there,” Henderson said.

He was spotted singing outside the Schnucks grocery store in the Hampton Village Shopping Center Monday. He said he requested to be sent to the lowest donation spot so he could see what he could do.

A Schnucks’ patron said he is the first bell ringer she has seen singing.

“Now if that don’t make you have a little spirit, nothing will.” She said.
