FERGUSON, Mo. (KMOV.com) -- A SARAA Alert was canceled Tuesday morning after police said a missing 8-month-old baby was found, unharmed, with his grandmother.
According to the Ferguson Police Department, Darrius Thompson was taken by his maternal grandmother, Marcy Robinson, Monday night and never returned home.
Officials said someone at a Phillips 66 gas station in the 6000 block of West Florissant recognized the car from media reports of the SARAA Alert and called police. When police arrived, they took Robinson into custody.
Robinson told police she always watches the baby and did not know there was an alert out for the child. Robinson was arrested by St. Louis police.
The baby was not harmed.
"Very exciting," Darrius' mother said when she got her son back. "I'm just glad to finally have him home."
Mother of Darrius Thompson is now at North Patrol, being reunited w/ her son. It was the Mom's mom who allegedly took him last PM @kmov— Laura Hettiger KMOV (@LauraKHettiger) September 2, 2014
