JUPITER, Fla. (Baseball StL) – Cardinals left-hander Marc Rzepczynski won’t throw until Wednesday due to slight soreness and fatigue in his left biceps muscle.

Rzepczynski felt the irritation following an appearance Friday in Kissimmee in which he said his mechanics were out of whack and actually caused the problem.

“If this was the regular season I’d be pitching through this without a doubt,” Rzepczynski said Monday morning. “Since we still have like three weeks left of games, they just said to give me a couple days and I’ll resume throwing on Wednesday. I feel fine now.

“I’m not even doing any rehab for it. It was just basically some rest. How I explained it to them was when you work out too hard and you get muscle soreness and that’s where I usually get it when I throw so I’ll give it a couple days. More rest than anything else, that’s all you can do for it.”

The left-hander said he wanted to play catch Monday but was advised not to by team trainers since Tuesday’s off day would allow him an extra 48 hours of rest.

“I get it all the time in spring but usually when I get it is later in spring and I just pitch through it,” Rzepczynski said. “But since I got it a little earlier and we started a little earlier, we’ll just give it a couple days.

“It’s nothing serious. They don’t even want me to do any (treatment) for it.”
