(CBS News) Edward Snowden, the former U.S. intelligence worker wanted for divulging the National Security Agency's widespread program collecting American phone records, has left a Moscow airport after weeks of waiting in limbo, Russian media reported, citing Snowden's lawyer.

Attorney Anatoly Kucherena appeared on Russian television and said Snowden had been granted asylum in Russia for one year, showing a scan of the document. He said the place Snowden is staying won't be disclosed for security reasons.

Snowden left Moscow's Sheremetyevo airport at around 7:30 a.m. ET. He had been staying in the airport's transit zone since arriving from Hong Kong June 23.
