ST. PETERS, Mo. (KMOV.com) – Police say a woman with a rifle was arrested after she allegedly robbed a gas station and led officers on a high-speed chase in St. Peters Tuesday morning.
Helen Denson, 41, was charged with first-degree robbery, armed criminal action and resisting arrest.
According to officials, Denson walked into the BP gas station in the 150 block of Salt Lick Road around 2:35 a.m. and displayed a rifle to the clerk on duty.
Police said Denson then demanded money and lottery tickets.
Denson was handed an unknown amount of cash and about $200 worth of scratch-off lottery tickets and left the store. She fled the scene in a four-door black 2000 Chrysler 300 in an unknown direction.
Officers later spotted a vehicle matching the description traveling on eastbound Highway 70.
When they attempted to stop the vehicle, the suspect sped away. St. Peters and St. Charles officers gave chase and said the suspect reached speeds in excess of 100 mph at one point.
Denson was arrested after her vehicle struck a curb on North 2nd Street near Olive Street, causing her to lose control of her vehicle.
Everything taken from the station was recovered from the Denson’s vehicle.
Denson remains in custody on a $100,000 bond.
