(KMOV) – Several residents were evacuated from an apartment complex in south St. Louis following a ruptured gas line Thursday evening.

Firefighters say a vehicle struck an apartment building near Itaska and S. 38th around 9 p.m. During the wreck, the car grazed a gas hook-up, which caused a leak.

Officials evacuated residents from that building along with three surrounding buildings until the leak was contained.

All residents were allowed back into their homes a short time later.

No injuries were reported.
