(KMOV) – Authorities charged a registered sex offender who is accused of drugging a teenage girl and sexually assaulting her at a St. Charles County apartment.

William Thomas Wilburn, 47, was charged with statutory sodomy, statutory rape and enticement of a child on Thursday.

According to authorities, Wilburn is accused of contacting a girl younger than 14 through a telephone chat service in May.

Police say he persuaded her to meet him in person and picked her up near her home in St. Louis on May 24  and brought her back to his St. Charles County Apartment complex on the 100 block of Cole Boulevard.

According to court documents, Wilburn fondled the girl, touching her inappropriately in his vehicle outside the apartment.

Authorities say he brought her into the apartment where he then injected the teen girl with an unknown drug causing her to become dizzy. Police say Wilburn sexually assaulted the victim then took pictures of her in the nude with his cell phone.

Authorities began to investigate after the girl told her parents the following day of the incident.

On September 18, Wilburn was identified in a photo lineup by the victim after police tracked him down through telephone records.

According to state documents, Wilburn has prior convictions in February 2006 for statutory rape and statutory sodomy.

William Wilburn is currently in the custody of the St. Charles County Police Department.
