A massive 40-plus vehicle pileup plagued drivers on Interstate 80 in Iowa during the Thursday afternoon commute.
According to the highway patrol, a Fed-Ex truck jackknifed and created a chain reaction of collisions.
It was standstill traffic as far as the eye could see. The tie-up stretched for miles along I-80 east of Van Meter.
Troopers shut down the interstate for more than three hours.
