(KMOV) – News 4 has learned a program to put drug addicts and prostitutes under one roof is coming to St. Louis.

Magdalene St. Louis will be modeled after a program in Nashville that puts criminals in houses to try and rehabilitate them.

The locations have not been selected for the area but News 4 has learned there could be several sites.

They will be near public transportation so these women can get to work as well as being close to resources such as a hospital, if the women ever need help.

The group held a kickoff event Wednesday night at Christ Church Cathedral in downtown St. Louis where the organizers invited the public in to inform them about the work they do with these women.

The idea is to put them through a two-year course to get their lives turned around and be productive members of society.

The program is a non-profit and shouldn’t cost taxpayers a dime.

News 4 will continue to follow the developments of this program and their future locations.
