(KMOV.com) - Two men have been charged in what police are calling a copper theft.

Police say three suspects stole copper from an air conditioning unit at a home in the 3300 block of Walnut Valley in High Ridge on Jan. 29.

Authorities say they were able to track down the suspects because one of them left a prescription bottle inside the burglarized home.

Police later determined the three suspects had also burglarized several other homes in High Ridge and Fenton. Those residences were vacant due to foreclosure.

Two of the suspects, 22-year-old David Howard and 18-year-old Matthew Ehlen, have been charged with five counts of burglary.

Both are being held in the Jefferson County Jail on $250,000 cash only bond.

The third suspect was released, but the investigation is still ongoing.
