(KMOV.com) – Police are warning residents about a pair of burglars who have been breaking into Central West End homes.

Police said a man and woman are committing the crimes in the middle of the day when nobody is home. Authorities said the man knocks on the door while the female accomplice waits in the car. If nobody answers, the pair then breaks in.

Authorities said they have already burglarized several homes, including one on Olive just west of Boyle. The front door of that condo is now boarded up. Police said the thieves stole a television and laptop.

“My husband came home seeing the front door open. It had basically been kicked off the hinges,” said Kiara Smith, a neighbor.

Nearby on Washington, authorities said a laptop, television, and other items were taken from another home. Police said an alarm company told the victim her home’s motion detector had been activated.

A neighbor told News 4 another person who lives nearby had a face to face encounter with a suspect, although there was no confrontation.
